Nexent has
Knowledge to scoop regional technology award
Expanding North East
communications company, Knowledge I.T has picked up a prestigious regional
technology award after beating off strong competition.
The field of competitors
had grown again this year to make Sunderland’s Portfolio Business
Awards the biggest yet. However, even with increased competition, it was
Knowledge I.T’s latest division Nexent that impressed the judges
to receive the Technology award.
“This company
has developed a system which has significantly helped grow its business
in a short period of time, due to the fact that it offers its customers
improved services which in turn will save them time and money" said
the judges.
Nexent Communications
is the first unified network system in the North East that unites all
business communications into one package, allowing companies to replace
multiple suppliers with one provider and just one bill.
“This is a wonderful
achievement for the company,” said Martin Coleman, managing director,
“The award is a great addition to what has already been a very successful
year for Knowledge.
"I am absolutely
delighted for the whole team," Martin continued. "The process
of setting up the Nexent division was something that could not have been
done single-handedly – it has been a huge team effort."
The win follows on
from Knowledge’s record year seeing sales revenues rise to £7.1
million, £1.8 million of which was generated in just six months
by Nexent.
This unified business
network system, which is able to provide all voice, data, business applications,
internet, mobile and off-site data replication services through a single
connection, has been adopted by almost 50 companies in the North East
since it’s launch in April of this year. These organisations are
able to make significant cost savings and provide an enhanced and more
cost effective service to their customers.
Established above
a hairdresser’s shop in Chester-le-Street in 1981, Knowledge has
evolved to become one of the North East’s leading business technology
companies. Today the company has over 300 clients in the North East and
across the UK and can boast strategic relationships with world-class partners
including Microsoft, HP and Cisco.

Giant Cisco - appoints North East representative
Leading business technology company Knowledge I.T has
been appointed as the North East representative of Cisco’s influential
Commercial Channel Advisory Board (CCAB).
George Sanger, sales director of Knowledge, has been chosen
to join the exclusive panel, which brings together a select group of eight
members comprising Commercial and SMB Cisco Channel Partners from throughout
the UK.
Cisco is the worldwide leader in networking equipment
for the internet, and the appointment allows a North East company to influence
policy within a global manufacturer.
The CCAB liaises with Cisco executives and senior management
teams to advise and influence the strategic direction of Cisco products,
key initiatives, services and solutions for its commercial and Small and
Medium Business (SMB) markets. Its key objective is to deliver secure,
end-to-end networking technologies that focus on enhancing customer profitability
and growth.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to influence Cisco’s
future Small and Medium Business (SMB) customer strategy. Not only this
but Knowledge can also provide regional input and guidance on how Cisco
can improve its delivery to businesses in the North East,” says
Sanger.
“We are a long-standing Cisco partner and this influential
appointment provides us with the platform to help shape Cisco’s
strategy to the benefit of North East companies.”
Mr Sanger has worked for Knowledge for just less than
three years overseeing the growing range of networking, internet and telephony
services the company provides. This accolade is yet another success for
the Washington-based company which recently celebrated a record year of
performance with sales revenue rising to £7.1 million, and now on
target for £9m in the current financial year.
Established above a hairdresser’s shop in Chester-le-Street
in 1981, Knowledge has evolved to become one of the North East’s
leading business technology companies. Today the company has over 300
clients in the North East and across the UK and can boast strategic relationships
with world-class partners including Microsoft, HP and Cisco.
The CCAB, first implemented in the US and Canada, has
since been successfully rolled out worldwide to include the European and
Asia Pacific markets. Plans are in place to develop the idea for Japan
and additional countries within emerging markets.

The Sage Gateshead chooses Knowledge I.T to deliver
its New Information Technology Systems.
Gateshead, UK, 30th September 2004 - Knowledge
I.T, one of the leading information technology providers in the
North of England announced today that The Sage Gateshead had chosen
Knowledge to provide information technology for the spectacular
Norman Foster designed building that dominates the Tyneside Skyline.
The Sage Gateshead is a new home for music and
musical discovery, aiming to bring about lasting and widespread
enrichment of music in the North of England.
Knowledge beat off stiff competition from firms
across the UK to design and implement the latest state-of-the-art
computer solutions based on Microsoft technologies.
The contract is being hailed as a major coup by
head of sales at Knowledge, George Sanger.
"We are a North East based company and are
delighted to be involved in this prestigious project. It also demonstrates
the strength and breadth of high level IT skills that are available
locally."
Knowledge I.T will be working to tight timelines,
as nearly all of the staff will move from their temporary home in
the old Gateshead town hall to the new building over a single weekend.
The move will require all systems to be in place so as not to impact
on the already published opening date and performance schedule.
Keith Dobson, Head of ICT at The Sage Gateshead explains,
"Technology is now a fundamental part of
every business, so it's absolutely right that The Sage Gateshead
should have the best systems available. We chose Knowledge I.T because
of their proven track record, project management and they offered
best value"
The new systems will provide The Sage Gateshead
staff with integrated desktop applications running on Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 and secure Cisco infrastructure. The solution
will also cater for their envisaged future expansion.
Syrus Mokhtari, Senior Account Manager at Knowledge
I.T said "We spent a lot of time with Keith and his team understanding
their exact requirement and look forward to delivering a quality
solution that will ultimately benefit the people of the region." |
