FAST growing Washington business communications specialist Knowledge I.T. has moved to support expansion with several new appointments.

The firm has appointed Norm Trees as senior IP (internet protocol) engineer and Alex McDonald as IP engineer. Also joining the IP Team is Shona Cummings, installations co-ordinator and Al Yong in IP communications pre-sales. Natalia Widdrington has become provisioning administrator, while Andy Hunter moves to practice manager – IP team.

The latest appointments follow a recruitment drive earlier this year when 14 new people joined Knowledge and boosted the current workforce to 65 people.

The appointments were necessary to support the firm’s further expansion, including an extension to its current Tyneside operations when a new facility on the Silverlink Business Park comes on stream later this year.

Knowledge I.T. works for 250 of the biggest firms and organisations in the North-East. It has grown from nine employees in 1991 to become one of the leading providers of added value communications technology and solutions including IP telephony, ICT, data storage, internet services and disaster recovery.

Recent client wins include Gateshead contact centre and fulfilment services provider Spark Response and Mamas & Papas, the UK’s top designer nursery retailer.

The firm also works for the RVI in Newcastle, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, Durham Magistrates Court and BAE Systems.

Annual sales recently broke through the £10m barrier – 30% of which have been generated following the launch of several new added value managed service contracts last year.
