Knowledge I.T, a leading provider of ICT, outsourcing and Data Centre Solutions, today announces that its Information Security Management System has been certified as compliant against the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001:2005, covering all of its locations and activities.

Knowledge I.T. is one of a small number of companies to have been awarded this certification to the international standard and is a major coup for the organisation. The standard requires a business to have appropriate security measures covering up to 134 control areas which safeguard information and intellectual property assets. Across all areas of business and commerce, there are only 350 companies in the UK and only 4,000 worldwide, certified against ISO 27001:2005.

ISO/IEC 27001 is the only auditable international standard which defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The standard is designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls which protect information assets by implementing a structured, process driven approach to information security. It aims to reduce the business risks associated with information security and provides assurance to all stakeholders that the applicable security controls are in place to counter threats to the information. The security standard encompasses people, processes and I.T. systems.

The achievement of ISO27001 demonstrates that Knowledge I.T. has met the highest possible standards in data management and security, giving customers the confidence that their data is being held according to strict protocols and policies.
