A major North East business communications provider is celebrating the success of its Data Centre and Disaster Recovery operations, a year after introducing new services which have proved a winner with existing and new clients alike.

WASHINGTON-BASED Knowledge I.T, which was established in 1981 to provide comprehensive and affordable information communication technology to customers throughout the North of England, has grown from just nine employees in 1991 to over 80 today, and the business is showing no sign of slowing down.

The growth comes as the company saw annual sales revenues rise to £14.2 million, 20 per cent of which was generated since the new Data Centre services were introduced 12 months ago.

These services have revolutionised Knowledge’s performance as a tier-one networking Data Centre and Disaster Recovery provider, by enabling the company to offer tailor-made solutions designed to meet the individual needs of a business.

Knowledge is the first North East service provider to unite all business ICT requirements into one service delivery package, allowing companies to replace multiple suppliers with one provider and just one utility-style bill.

The move has seen the company grow its workforce by eight posts to cope with the rapid increase in new orders, and to ensure the business continues to deliver efficient levels of technical support 24 hours a day.

The new services include Applications Hosting, Co-Location, Server Consolidation, High-end Storage and Data Replication. These are delivered via world class technologies from Cisco, HP,VMware, EMC and Microsoft, underpinned by via world class technologies from Cisco, HP, VMware, EMC and Microsoft, underpinned by ISO27001 for information security and ITIL service delivery.
